Hard things for God.

Hey guys, sorry for not updating for so so long! Was busy, lazy and tired recently. Today have the time, and the inspiration to blog, so here goes..

If you guys did noticed, I manage to finish the book entitled " Do Hard Things" written by Alex and Brett Harris, brother of the famous Joshua Harris who wrote "I Kissed Dating Goodbye" and "Boy Meets Girl". The Harris brothers manage to convey a stunning message that this world really need to hear of. And I'm truly blessed by the ministry of them, and I trust that God will continue to do great and mighty things in their life.

Question: Why is God using them instead of us?

I was thinking on that for quite awhile, and God just graciously reveal to me. For your info, they were trained in their thinking and mindset since their childhood days, where their parents will give them books to read in their holidays instead of giving and pampering them with an overdose of enjoyment and leisure. Having an awareness of the World's current affairs, political issues, Literature and many other more topics in the world, but the main food that they have is the Word, and Christian books written throughout the ages! When I read on that, I was astonished, literally! How much input was digested into their system, and that is why God is using them wonderfully for his work! Amen to that!

They had been preparing the fields, and right now are still preparing the fields, by reading his Word, taking steps of faith to do Hard things for God, sowing seeds of evangelism, holding conferences in the States. And by doing that, they believe that God will one day pour out the rain unto the fields for the fruit to grow, and the fruit will be there for everyone to see, with God being glorified at the end of the day. I can go on all day, but all Glory goes to God, not the Harris brothers, as it is God who first worked in their heart, letting them know that loving him and his will is far better than the things that this world can afford.

Alright, to the topic on Do Hard Things. It is a book written by the Harris Twins (Alex & Brett) and the target audience for the book is for teenagers in our modern day society and it is written when they are 19, which means this book was written by teens to teens. This makes
alot of difference because teens will understand what kind of struggles teens are going through, and to come from teens, it is really something.

In today's world and society, the teenage years are seen as a time to party, play and to have fun. And not much responsibilities are given to them. I don't blame the world because the teens allow themselves to be "despised" by the world by their doings? Isn't it true in a sense? This is where the Twins wrote this book to challenge youths around the globe to wake up and rebel against low expectations that the world has set for them.

1 Tim 4:12 - Let no man despise thy youth: but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.

That verse articulate that we should not let people despise us as youths, but we ought to be an example of the believers, who are Christians being a living example for our God and Saviour!

You can search the whole Bible for the word "teenager", and you will never find it. This is because there are only 2 stages in a man's life, being child, or adult. The word teenager only appears in the 1900s, when child policy, welfare, and education starts to come in place. These are good
policies because in those days, 12 years and under are considered children, and they are already making a living mining coals, building houses, basically making a living and when you hit 13, you're generally considered as an adult. Education wasn't really promoted with 1 out of 10 children studying in a school. And in those days, training for hard things in life started early in the childhood days. If you want to compare with today's standard, a "teen" of those days will be doing more things than an average teen, if not, the 25-35 age group of people in today's context!

The things that they do are things that shapes the economy of a country, made an impact in the community, creating great difference in an
individual's life. But looking at the teens today, if not even the young adults of our generation, they can't even hold a candle to them.

The reason why I'm writing this is because there is so much potential in us that is left hidden, and we choose not to unveil it
ourself. Setting low expectations for ourself by just merely meeting the low expectations that the world has set for us, be it partying, doing drugs, drinking, getting a pass grades in college, and I can go on and on. It is a fact that we are just meeting the low expectation that others has set for us, without knowing that we can go far more beyond that.
That is why, Do Hard Things is written as a wake up call, for teens to rebel against low expectations in life, being part of the
rebelution ( combination of rebellion & revolution). Doing things that will ultimately please God and not Man.

There are so much more to be shared, but I hope that what I've mentioned will blessed your hearts. This is the longest post I've written come to date :)

rebelution is (www.therebelution.com)
